I am a mostly self taught developer who really enjoys researching new technologies and building new things. My wife and I are now both self employed in our own business Kickin & Screenin, Misty has been since 2014. I on the other hand just recently took the leap and left my full-time career of over 10 years with and International scale company as a Field Service Rep/ Software Developer. We are both excited for the future as we have been constantly adding to new products to our own eCommerce store and exploring our creative side by launching new products in our newest endeavor Hunny & Babe Company. 

I do have an Associates degree in Computer Information Systems from a two year college, and am only lacking one semester to complete my Bachelors degree. What I found is that I was spending so much time in school and on my full-time job that I couldn't work on projects and the things I wanted to learn...

So I Quit!

I have honestly never been happier! I am proud to say I have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time that I am now questioning why I didn't take the leap several years ago. Which, was the original plan when we purchased an inflatable rental company named Just Add Kidz from a friend who had been in the business for 15 years. In retrospect what I believe happened was the comfort and financial security of my full-time job at Mettler Toledo Inc. made me question why I would leave in the first place. Even knowing this, it wasn't what I wanted to do with my life, I just felt unfulfilled knowing that I wanted to work for our businesses full-time. 

At this point my wife pointed out the fact that over the 6 years we have owned and operated Kickin & Screenin as a hobby, instead of a business, we had set ourselves up for me to make my exit. And that's what I did. I quit my full-time position at the scale company and we got to work!

My Development Journey

Building things while working a full-time job along with owning and operating two small businesses has caused my development progression to be very slow and methodical. The one thing this has allowed me to do is learn many different technologies and how to integrate pretty much anything.

  • First Website
    The first site I ever built while still in school. A humble beginning!
  • Industrial Weighing Software
    At Mettler Toledo, developed custom weighing software using C# and .NET frameworks. Learned software deployment and integration across various technologies.
  • DMCEC Website
    Built the Decatur Morgan County Entrepreneurial Center website with integrated calendar, email, and custom graphics using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Avery Marie Maternity
    Built a complete eCommerce solution with automated messaging and shipping using Ecwid eCommerce and GoDaddy Hosting.
  • Recipe Randomizer App
    This was my first real application that I built using Svelte.js and SvelteKit. It was a recipe randomizer that would take a users book of recipes and build arandomized menu formy wife to cook for our family. It was a fun project and I learned a lot, but like a lot of side projects it was never finished... 🤔
  • Beach For House Website
    Built a website for Thomas Beach for his run for South Carolina House or Representatives. Integrated his campaign and donations links and appliactions to allow online giving.
  • NASA Image of the Day Viewing App
    Built a simple app using NASA's API to view the daily image of the day. This application was built using Svelte.js and SvelteKit, it was a real turning point in my web development journey.
  • The Year I Discovered Blockchain and Web3
    I started learning about blockchain and web3 in 2022. I was fascinated by the potential of the technology and the ability to create decentralized applications. I started learning about Solidity and Ethereum and quickly realized that this was something I wanted to be a part of. I started learning about the different blockchains and the different use cases for each one. I spent a lot of time in the DeFi space, and discovered a whole new passion. Trading and Crypto!
  • Trading Bots Consumed My Life
    I started building trading bots in 2022. I was fascinated by the potential of the technology and the ability to create decentralized applications. Building out automated trading strategies using TradingView and PineScript, to automate the backtesting and eventually the trading. I slowly lost interest in Web3 and started solidifying my skills in trading.
  • Trading Became My Passion
    Pivoting from trading bots to manual trading changed my outlook on the markets. I started to notice patterns and this led me to start trading on my own. I became a member of the WolfPack Trade Group, this iswhere i learned to trade using data and statistics. Changing my trading strategy to a more data-driven approach was a game changer for me. I started to see the markets in a whole new way and I was able to make much better decisions along with implementing risk managment strategies to protect capital as well.
  • Building Trading Tools
    I have recently started building trading tools to help me become a better trader. The goal is to market these tools once they are complete, if they can help me then they can help other traders as well.
